Six systematic construction\nmethods are provided: composing partially balanced bipartite\nblock designs with nested balanced incomplete block designs;\naugmenting nested partially balanced incomplete block designs\nwith controls; merging rows of group-divisible nested designs;\ndirect construction from group-divisible schemes; and expansion\nof partially balanced incomplete block designs (Vinayaka et al.\n2026: In press). The A-efficiencies of the block and sub-block\nclassifications are computed against the A-optimal completely\nsymmetric reference design, following the test-versus-control\noptimality framework of Gupta and Parsad (1996)\n and Vinayaka et al.
