A single experiment conducted in one location and\nseason may yield limited conclusions, as results can vary under\ndifferent environmental conditions. In agricultural research,\ntreatment × location and treatment × season interactions play a\ncrucial role. Analyzing a series of experiments across diverse\nconditions allows for more generalized and reliable\nrecommendations. The 'CANE' package facilitates the pooled\nanalysis of experiments conducted over multiple years, seasons,\nor locations. It is designed to assess treatment interactions\nwith environmental factors (such as location and season) using\nvarious experimental designs. The package supports pooled\nanalysis of variance (ANOVA) for the following designs: (1)\n'PooledCRD()': completely randomized design; (2) 'PooledRBD()':\nrandomized block design; (3) 'PooledLSD()': Latin square\ndesign; (4) 'PooledSPD()': split plot design; and (5)\n'PooledStPD()': strip plot design. Each function provides the\nfollowing outputs: (i) Individual ANOVA tables based on\nindependent analysis for each location or year; (ii) Testing of\nhomogeneity of error variances among distinct locations using\nBartlett’s Chi-Square test; (iii) If Bartlett’s test is\nsignificant, 'Aitken’s' transformation, defined as the ratio of\nthe response to the square root of the error mean square, is\napplied to the response variable; otherwise, the data is used\nas is; (iv) Combined analysis to obtain a pooled ANOVA table;\n(v) Multiple comparison tests, including Tukey's honestly\nsignificant difference (Tukey's HSD) test, Duncan’s multiple\nrange test (DMRT), and the least significant difference (LSD)\ntest, for treatment comparisons. The statistical theory and\nsteps of analysis of these designs are available in Dean et al.\n(2017) and Ruíz et al.\n(2024). By broadening the scope\nof experimental conclusions, 'CANE' enables researchers to\nderive robust, widely applicable recommendations.
